Celebration of Librarians’ Day & Book Exhibition

 

 On 12th August 2025, the Library Department of Oriental College of Pharmacy proudly celebrated Librarians’ Day in honor of the legendary Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. The event was made even more special with a Book Exhibition organized in collaboration with Educational Book Center.

 

The program began with a warm welcome address, followed by the lighting of the lamp by our respected Principal, Dr. Sudha Rathod, paying tribute to Dr. Ranganathan’s contributions.

Our Librarian, Ms. Pooja Bhujbal, shared an insightful presentation on Dr. Ranganathan’s life and his famous Five Laws of Library Science, which continue to guide modern librarianship.

Principal Dr. Sudha Rathod inspired everyone with her speech on the evolving role of libraries in the digital era, encouraging students and faculty to make greater use of both print and e-resources.

 

 

The Book Exhibition was the main attraction of the day! A wide collection of books was displayed in collaboration with Educational Book Center, covering diverse subjects and interests. Faculty members and students enthusiastically browsed through the titles and provided recommendations for new library purchases. 

 

 

Outcomes

• Created awareness about the life and work of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan.

• Encouraged active participation from students and faculty in exploring books.

• Collected valuable book recommendations to enrich our library collection.

• Promoted reading habits and the effective use of library resources.

The celebration was a meaningful reminder of the importance of libraries in academic and personal growth. We thank our Principal, faculty members, students, and library staff for making this event a great success.
